在发行了数张零散的专辑和单曲之后,她再度回到Conny的工作室,与Alexander Hacke(Einstürzende Neubauten成员)、Chrislo Haas(DAF和Crime & The City Solution前成员)、Thomas Stern(Crime & The City Solution前成员)以及此前合作过的Jaki Liebezeit共同录制了《Our Likeness》,并于1992年发行于厂牌Mute。1993至1994年间,她与鼓手兼制作人Anton Fier(The Golden Palominos成员,The Lounge Lizards前成员)在位于美国布鲁克林的Bill Laswell的Greenpoint工作室合作录制了一系列专辑。

Phew, former Japanese punk legend and one of the most radical voices in music today.

Phew started her musical career as singer for Aunt Sally, a legendary punk band from Kobe who were around for a short period between 1978 and 1979. She debuted as a solo artist in 1980 with “Shukyoku (Finale)”, a collaborative single with Ryuichi Sakamoto. In the following year she went in to Conny Plank's studio in Cologne, Germany to record her first full-length album with Plank as well as Holger Czukay and Jaki Liebezeit from CAN. After sporadic album and single releases she went back to Conny's studio to record with Alexander Hacke (Einstürzende Neubauten), Chrislo Haas (ex-DAF, Crime & The City Solution), Thomas Stern (ex-Crime & The City Solution) and again Jaki Liebezeit from CAN, which lead to the release of the album “Our Likeness” on Mute in 1992. She joined drummer/producer Anton Fier (The Golden Palominos, ex-The Lounge Lizards) to record a series of albums at Bill Laswell's Greenpoint Studio in Brooklyn in 1993 and 1994.

In 2000, she formed the punk band MOST with former Boredoms guitarist Seiichi Yamamoto. They played shows regularly and released 2 albums in the next several years. In 2010, she released “Five Finger Discount", her first solo album in 15 years, to a critical acclaim. In 2011, she formed a unit called Project UNDARK with writer/cartoonist Erika Kobayashi and released “Radium Girls 2011”, a conceptual album revolving around radioactivity and its course in human history, with Cluster’s Dieter Moebius in charge of the music, in the following year.

In 2013 Phew started performing and recording solo, which saw her exploring new terrain with the use of analog synthesizers, vintage drum machines, her own voice and sometimes visual images, too. She self-released 3 CD-Rs in 2014, which was followed by the release of the new full-length album “A New World” in December 2015.
