Leaves来自仙境国度冰岛，乐队名称源于英国隽永民谣诗人Nick Drake1969年的经典专辑Five Leaves Left，这寄语了他们追寻音乐极致自我与真挚的表达。

作为一只北欧乐队，Leaves忧郁超然，但音乐风格却很好的延续了英伦摇滚风骨。歌曲构架于中板节奏，留予旋律抒发情绪的空间，适合有迷人特质的主唱独吟。歌曲编排精致饱满耐听，吉他滑弦扫弦技术纯熟，后期后摇乐手的加入还为歌曲增加了钢琴与弦乐。乐队歌曲主题多为孤独与遥远，如“迷醉星空”。他们拥有自己的音乐工作室：“宇航员”，航道主音Arnar介于Coldplay与Radiohead之间，孤独、自我、迷幻、颓废、病态，却多了份坚定与空怅流逝之美。

2002-Breathe

2002年乐队在华纳旗下的B-Unique发行首张专辑，专辑由英伦强团Suede, Happy Mondays, Starsailor的制作人Steve Osbourne操刀，被滚石杂志誉为年度低调佳作，并被Q-magazine选为年度50佳专辑。同年乐队担任Travis演出嘉宾。

2004-The Angela Test

2004年乐队于雷克雅未克仲夏时节以安琪儿命名新作，并签约著名独立厂牌Island Records，成为Nick Drake同门。这张专辑阵容豪华：制作为Muse, Supergrass的制作人Rich Costey；录音混音启用Björk, Madonna, U2, PJ Harvey的御用音响师Ian Davenport & Marius de Vries. 2005年乐队担任Supergrass, Thirteen Senses, Duran Duran演出嘉宾，并在雷克雅未克酷感十足的live场地NASA举办爆满专场演出。

2009-We are shadows & 2013-See You In The Afterglow

2009年后，乐队开始独立发行专辑，暗影与余辉两张佳作更优雅自如，但Leaves的音乐主线不曾改变，会让一批乐迷想起曾经挚爱的青葱纯粹Britpop之音，其间有只属于听者的空间与寄托，如闪亮的海或蓝灰的天…

Leaves band was formed in 2001 in Reykjavík. Arnar Ólafsson (guitar, vocals), Andri Ásgrímsson (keys) and Bjarni Grímsson (drums) began playing the songs with Arnar and Hallur. After some pondering the group settled on Leaves as an apt name. Referring to Five Leaves Left, the first album of English legend Nick Drake.

2002-Breathe

For the summer everyone in the band sensed that something special was happening and the interest from abroad did nothing to dampen that feeling. The bands show garnered instant praise from Iceland’s music press which indicated what was to follow. A critic from The New York Times was impressed with the bands performance and Hallur appeared in an interview in the newspaper having only played one gig…..ever! A recording contract followed with London based B-Unique records. The contract stated that Dreamworks had first option for signing the band in the U.S.. Leaves had the industry buzzing and declined deals from Virgin Records, Island Records and Indiependiente in order to sign to a more indipendent label. Early in 2002 the band began recording their first album in Reykjavík. A production team called the awayTEAM (Badly Drawn Boy, Athlete) were brought into handle recordings. In the spring the band played all over the U.K. with bands such as Doves, The Coral, Electric Soft Parade, Athlete to promote the album which was mixed by Steve Osbourne (Doves, Suede, Happy Mondays, KT Tunstall, Elbow, Starsailor) in Air Studios. At the homefront the song Breathe gained popularity andgigs with The Strokes and Travis helped lift the their profile further. Breathe was released in August 2002. Critics loved the album which got raving reviews in magazines and newspapers such as Q-magazine (the magazine selected Breathe as one of the 50 best albums of 2002), Uncut and The Fly. The band did the festival route and played tirelessly. In spite of critical acclaim and good response the band did not get the airplay needed to break through in the U.K.

2004-The Angela Test

Now it was time to move on to the next album. Bjarni had left the band being replaced by beat virtuoso Nói Steinn Einarsson and Andri permanently joined the band. The pair had been in a post-rock band Náttfari which garnered some praise at the turn of the century when Reykjavik’s music scene was probably as exciting as it has ever been. Leaves had developed their sound considerably, arrangements were now complex and layered while instrumentation had also come a long way. Still songs like Whatever and The Spell showed the bands ability to write accessible tunes. The Angela Test was recorded in the bands studio in Reykjavik in the summer of 2004. Ian Davenport who had also worked on Breathe engineered while Marius de Vries (Björk, Madonna, Rufus Wainwright, U2, PJ Harvey and Elbow) produced. When recordings were finished in the fall the album was mixed by Rich Costey (Muse, The Mars Volta, Foo Fighters, Supergrass and Interpol). The band had now signed to London based Island Records.

In the summer of 2005 the band supported Supergrass and Thirteen Senses on tours also playing some festivals and doing a headline tour in the fall. In Iceland the band played a fantastic sold out show at NASA as well as supporting pop giants Duran Duran. The album got warm reviews in magazines and newspapers although the hype surrounding Breathe was absent. Strangely the album recieved little attention in Iceland, it was distributed by Universal worldwide. That meant it came to Iceland through the same channels as other foreign acts, still The Spell remains one of the bands biggest hits. The Angela Test is by many considered Iceland’s most underrated album to date.

2009-We are shadows & 2013-See You In The Afterglow

In 2009 the self-released album We are shadows saw the light of day, expanding their soundscape even further. The quality of the songwriting along with majestic arrangements and interesting recordings proved that Leaves was a band that was developing consistently. With bass player Hallur leaving the band in 2009 two new members joined the band, bass player Elli (Jeff who!) and keyboard player Kjartan (Ampop). They´re fourth album See you in the afterglow will be released in 2014 worldwide.
